Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about our approach, treatment model and services.

Is this psychiatry, therapy, or something else?

It depending on your needs. I can do pure psychiatry, whether it be detailed assessment, psychopharmacology, chit chat therapy, or a specific targeted therapy.

I work holistically. Psychological work may also benefit from resolving foci or “fulcrums’ and forces in the wider physical body and the body’s own energy field.

I am trained to work with the body as a form of body psychotherapy and also as a way of resourcing.

My speciality (Consultation Liaison Psychiatry) is at the interface between Western physical medicine (particularly neurology) and psychiatry and psychology.

My approach includes psychiatry, integrating psychotherapy approaches and also selected somatic or body-based approaches where appropriate, tailored to the individual.

I can provide one-off psychiatric assessments and independent medical expert and other medicolegal work.

Is this right for me?

That's exactly what the initial consultation is for. You don't need to figure everything out before reaching out.
An initial consultation can clarify:

  • What’s actually going on
  • Whether one of these approachs is a good fit
  • What direction makes the most sense
  • The techniques used depend on the individual person.

More integrative and resourcing therapies include Deep Brain Reorienting, Traumatic Incident Reduction, and Craniosacral therapy. These are the therapies I recommended for those with unresolved trauma.

A good foundation might be to develop a meditation or yoga practice and have some treatments with Chinese medicine and or Craniosacral Therapy initially to develop the capacity to feel self-resourced and stable as preparation prior to embarking on any specific trauma processing.
