About Our Therapies
Hypnosis
Hypnosis is a pleasant method of therapy allowing trance, with deep relaxation and focus.
In this state the mind is more open to suspension of disbelief, and may be receptive to new learning and open to creative solutions.
During hypnosis you will remain fully conscious yet deeply relaxed and focused. During sessions I will describe what I’m doing, so that you can follow along while sensing what is actually happening in your own body.
This work is grounded, resourced and nourishing. Many people feel more relaxed, energised and insightful afterwards.
The elements of the session are carefully designed to help you feel comfortable, safe and secure.
I will guide you throughout the process, explain what I’m doing, seek your permission, and incorporate your wishes into the work.
Chinese Medicine
I am an AHPRA qualified acupuncturist with a Master’s degree in Chinese Medicine and a specialist interest in Japanese acupuncture and massage.
Chinese medicine has evolved over more than 2,500 years and offers a holistic approach to health and wellbeing.
Assessment may involve:
- Pulse diagnosis
- Hara (abdominal) palpation
- Observation of the tongue, face and posture
- Comprehensive history taking
Treatment may include Shiatsu massage, acupuncture, non-penetrative needles, and warming techniques such as moxibustion.
Chinese Medicine places importance on lifestyle, diet, exercise and living in harmony with seasonal rhythms.
Craniosacral Therapy
I trained with Franklyn Sills at Karuna for more than 500 hours, including birth process work and pre- and perinatal psychology.
Franklyn Sills was one of the pioneers of Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy and Polarity Therapy.
Influenced by James Jealous and craniosacral osteopathy, this approach emphasises stillness, non-intrusive attention and allowing the body to find its own solutions.
The work seeks to support stress processing, trauma resolution and self-healing in a way that is gentle, resourcing and non-overwhelming.
I am registered with:
- PACT – Pacific Association of Craniosacral Therapists
- BCST – Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy Association of North America
Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR)
Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR) is a novel trauma therapy that has shown promise in clinical trials.
Developed by Frank Corrigan, DBR focuses on early brainstem-based orienting and shock responses associated with trauma.
Researchers including Professor Ruth Lanius describe DBR as a "bottom-up" therapy that works with subcortical threat and shock physiology rather than beginning with cognitive restructuring.
The first randomized controlled trial published in the European Journal of Psychotraumatology (Kearney et al., 2023) demonstrated statistically and clinically significant improvements for PTSD.
Emerging neuroimaging research suggests improved regulation of brain networks associated with present-moment awareness, embodiment and reduced overthinking.
Other Training & Modalities
I am also a trained Reiki Level 2 practitioner.
Reiki is traditionally described as a form of spiritual energy healing practice.
In addition, I have trained in Neural Organisation Technique (NOT), developed by Dr Karl Ferreri.
Neural Organisation Technique integrates concepts from:
- Chinese Medicine
- Applied Kinesiology
- Chiropractic Care
- Sacro-cranial Techniques
